SWEET SUMMER'S EVENING

Long I that special few hours
When Bugzy and Ditto will joyfully display their talents.
In the presence of this poetry we will be on the shores of a gentle blue.

Sweet summer's evening salutes our footsteps;
Even it promised to last forever.
The sands are pure; our feet are clean -
Yea! So fine, so fair and holy.

Someday is today! Whispered sweet dolphin -
Not like what they always say.
The fair one is called Ngozi
And she is as beautiful as sweet summer's dream.

A COLD NIGHT IN WARRI

A time came when the cricket
Made its unpleasant sound,
When stars became visible
And their faint lights could be seen,
when moon shed tears of blood.

Songs of war echoed from the south -
Hitting their weapons on every tree.
It terrified me hearing sound of their feet
As it touched the ground.
Their brothers were slaughtered; their palms stained with their father's blood.

They screamed with pleasure
After beheading a brother.
Wondered me where such sounds roared.
Voices of old men wailing ran to me in fright!
Then I knew blood was flowing.

Flames of burning huts became proud of their lights,
And finally I got that answer.
Whose house would be the nest to be burnt?
When many families have been rendered homeless.

My heart ran away! I couldn't find it;
Then I prayed for dawn to arrive quickly.
But crickets made their unpleasant sound
While moon shed tears of blood,
What a cold night I will never forget... in Warri.

THE EYES OF A DARLING FRIEND

It is yesterday that is trying to invade!
The darling soil of a wonderland.
The moon is yellow; these tears won't be in vain,
For your voice cries out from the un'erground.

A unique figure so awesome to stare;
A wing so colored to blend.
A feeling I always wanted to share;
A love that will never end.

Truly like a lily not a thorn,
And really! The name is Lily.
You flew away and never return!
My friend, my pet I missed deeply.

Describing you is like
explaining the harmony of a nightingale.
Pronouncing your name is like
singing a good love slow song.
Knowing you is like
meeting an angel of peace.
Having you is like
keeping a vessel full of diamond.
Loving you is like
passing through a boundary of never to ever.

When will the rain fall, oh weather?
A good seed is withering.
As the serpent suffers animosity
The stomach antagonizes the mind.

Wretched damsel!

Does life worth living?
So beautiful like Sunday morning, And her blonde hair scents like a fine perfume. Like a faint star in the middle of shinning stars.
